Amani’s Post-Grad Life

Happy happy Sunday Females of Filadelphia readers! Another Sunday, another blog about “Post-Grad Life”! Make sure to check out the rest of the blogs in this “series” to get a better understanding of the incredible women I’m highlighting. Today, I have a super fun, energetic and hardworking feature: Amani!

About Amani

Amani graduated from Temple University (see a pattern?) this past May with a degree in International Business with a concentration in Entrepreneurship (go Fox!). During her time there, she studied abroad in Japan, and  helped new incoming students with orientation! After graduating, she started working as a Group Sales Associate at Disney Theatrical Group. And she heard about the job through a family member sending her the job post.

My advice to anyone seeking a job or internship at this time is to tell everyone you know about your job hunt because you never know who can/will help you land your next big gig.

When asked what her top advice to new grad students is, she says:

Try to look for jobs in industries that don’t exactly align with your major. In business school most of my professors were advising us to get jobs at a firm or one of the big 4, but there are still plenty of business related jobs in fun industries like food, publishing, television/film, and in my case Broadway! Your first job is just a stepping stone to something bigger, so don’t be afraid to step outside of the box if it’s something you are genuinely interested in or passionate about!

And I couldn’t have said it better myself. You need to be open-minded in the job search in order to learn about all the things you love, and all the things you may not be as interested in.

Thanks, Amani, for giving me the inside scoop on what you’re up to. Feel free to ask Amani questions about what she does on her Instagram post.

Stay tuned for another spotlight coming up soon! As always, if there’s someone you want me to spotlight, make sure to message me @femalesoffiladelphia or contact me through this page 🙂

XOXO,

V
