Hi hi hi Females of Filadelphia Readers! Another day = another blog *cough* gift guide *cough*. I’ve taken a step back from interviews these past few weeks because life has been HECTIC, but hopefully I’ll have another interview for you soon with an #inspirational woman from Philly. Regardless, this blog is fun and ties right in with the holidays.
But before I get into the actual blog, make sure you are all taking the holiday vacations to practice self-care, relax, refocus, and give back. If you want an idea of how you can give back, check my last blog with the #GivingBackCalendar. I plan to have more updates on what I’ve collected to give back to local charities sometime soon, as well.
Sooo … back to this blog! This is the perfect gift guide for any lady (or anyone really) in your life, but the best part is all the gifts on this list are either a) from brands with women CEOs, b) books written by inspiring women, or c) give back to the community in some way. I think gifts are fun, but I think gifts should have a purpose. Some of these I’ve bought myself, and others I found online, and thought they were super cool. Let me know what y’all think, and if you buy any of these make sure to tag me on your social media account 🙂
The founder of the Luci brand is a Temple grad (go Owls! go Birds!) and a woman; give me one reason you shouldn’t shop this brand?
J. Crew donates 50% of the proceeds from all these items to their designated charities. The sweatshirt featured is for the children in your life and 50% of the proceeds go to Girls Inc. (there are products for adults too if you follow the Garments for Good link)
Urban Outfitters HQ is actually located in Philly and their CEO is a woman (according to their website?)! I chose this shirt because butterflies signify growth, and I think 2020 will be the year of growth for everyone 🙂
This one is a bit on the pricey side, but it’s so cool! “The Future is Females” but in Morse Code? Also, read up on Eileen Fisher’s brand which has a woman founder, and does a lot of work with sustainability.
Similarly to the J.Crew shirt above, 50% of profits from this shirt go to Girls Inc. And it looks super comfy so check it out! (Plus it’s on sale when I’m posting this).
Any book worms read my blog? I CANNOT rave enough about this book! It changed my 2019 perspective, and it changed my life. It’s recommended by people like Bill Gates so you don’t want to miss out! Get copies for every person in your life.
Honestly, I’m all about this shirt. Categorizing people can really cause issues so why not wear a shirt that lets all the other humans know, you’re just a human. Also, for every shirt (or other item in the same collection sold), $5 will be donated towards the ACLU.
All I have to say is Michelle Obama wrote this book, and that should be intriguing enough for you to click that link ^. Regardless, I know that this book is “so 2018“, but I haven’t been able to read it, so I’m positive (assuming) some of you haven’t either.
I love Adelaine’s merch! It’s so yellow and girl positive, and I promise I hadn’t seen her accounts before I started Females of Filadelphia (like for real).
Do you guys like laptop stickers? Are they still “in”? Or is water bottle stickers better? I am not with the trends, but this sticker is SUPER cute and I’m digging the yellow undertones 😉 go get yourself one!
